In the community
Support Services of Virginia is committed to partnering with innovative and like-minded organizations and agencies within the community who share our passion for helping individuals living with intellectual and developmental disability, realize their success. Over the course of a year, SSVA participates in many conferences, workshops, collaborative events and fairs. We believe in fostering an environment of learning and sharing of best practices- helping us continually improve our services and the way we support our employees.
2019 provider innovation collaborative
Members of our team came together for a three-day event in Richmond, where we joined other Virginia’s DD providers for a unique opportunity to connect and learn about enhancing services and supports in community-based programs. The Collaborative featured dynamic keynote and guest speakers who are nationally known, and multiple group sessions in the following tracks: Quality Improvement, Business Acumen, Best Practices, and Supporting Crisis.
2018 surfer’s healing
SSVA team members came out to the 15th annual Surfer’s Healing event at the Oceanfront. Surfer’s Healing was found by Israel and Danielle Paskowitz, whose son, Isaiah, was diagnosed with autism at age three. Like many children with autism, he often suffered from sensory overload– simple sensations could overwhelm him. The ocean was the one place where he seemed to find respite. We came out to support this great cause, spread the word about SSVA and catch some rays!
2018 arc convention
Support Services of Virginia participated in the annual 2018 Arc Convention in Norfolk, which is a great opportunity to those providing support and those receiving support to network, make new friends and learn. We took part in the breakout sessions and socialized at the Awards dinner. In between sessions, members of our team hosted a table where we showcased the person-centered services with offer, as well employment opportunities with paths to leadership.
