group home services
At Support Services of Virginia, we cultivate a family like and person-centered atmosphere for those that live with us as well as those that work with us. We realize our own success by helping others realize theirs. We have highly trained staff at each site. There are three Positive Behavioral Supports Facilitator’s that provide support to everyone living in one of our homes. We also provide extensive and ongoing training through our training department.
Support Services of Virginia currently has five group home sites. There are no more than four individuals receiving services at each site. Each individual has their own private room. There are at least two bathrooms in each home, spacious backyards, and many modern updates.
We have a rotating administrative on call for emergencies at night and on the weekends and all homes are no more than a ten minute drive from our administrative office. If you’re looking for a safe, caring, and fun environment that strives towards community integration, get in touch with us by filling out our contact form.
The Sponsored Residential Program(SR) provides full-time, 24 hour, support for individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. Placement in one of SSVA’s SR homes guarantees that the individual will benefit from intensely personalized and consistent supports provided in a residential setting that is built around positive interactions. Some sponsored homes offer a close, family-like setting, while others offer more independent options, like a private apartment/mother -in-law type suite within the home.
Each Sponsored home has its own unique character and SSVA carefully assesses to assure that the specific home chosen matches well with the individual’s interests and needs. When a home is identified that seems like a good match, we will schedule initial visits; when chosen, we prefer to provide trial runs – transition visits ranging from a few hours to overnights or weekends. At times, placements may be available on very short notice
Many folks who have struggled to be successful in other types of settings move into SSVA SR homes and excel. These settings are designed for long term – many years of living in the same, stable environment. SSVA does allow up to 2 individuals to be placed in the same home, but only if the personalities and interests are a good fit for each other. Many SR homes support only one person. All SSVA SR homes are fully licensed. The sponsors and their relief workers attain and stay current with all required certifications and often have additional specialized training or licenses, like MSW, RN or LPN.
