Do you know anyone who has the strength and resilience to work hard at helping others? Meaningful work is often the most challenging. Not everyone is cut out for it. But there are individuals who want and need a purpose in what they do for work – individuals we would love to talk to. We are always looking for new team members who are willing to do what it takes to help the world around them.

HOW TO TELL SOMEONE IS MEANT TO HELP OTHERS

You may already know someone who you think would be great at helping others. Or, you may not be sure. Here are some tips on how to identify someone in your life who is a perfect fit for meaningful employment:

1. THEY ARE LOOKING FOR MORE OUT OF THEIR JOB.

It can be easy to be dismissive when someone always complains about their job – but ongoing complaints through multiple jobs could be a sign of a need for meaning. These individuals usually don’t feel fulfilled and aren’t satisfied with the job they have.

Everyone can benefit from having a purpose, but some people struggle to function well without one. They may cycle through jobs and struggle to find anything that is worth doing for an extended period of time.

2. THEY ARE LOOKING FOR JOB EXPERIENCE.

One of the most frustrating things about the job market is how hard it is to get your foot in the door. Most employers wants you to have experience before they will hire you. But how do you get experience if no one will hire you? If someone you know has filled out endless applications but still not managed to get a job in a certain industry, it may be time to try a different strategy.

Employers who need people to do hard work – rewarding work are often open to hire someone without experience. They offer training during orientation, normally in a classroom and on the job, to make sure their new employee is well-prepared beforehand. Getting a job with such an employer can be an excellent way to break into an industry that you really want to be a part of.

3. THEY ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT A CAUSE.

Most people are at least slightly interested in helping others – but you may know someone who is a lot more interested in a cause or causes than most. These passionate people really want to help people. In fact, they talk about it all the time. They may even have considered seeking work that would allow them to indulge in their desire to help others, but haven’t taken the first step. Maybe they just need a little nudge in the right direction.

4. THEY ARE HARDWORKING.

Some people really set to a job with focus to be the best they can be at it. They may be hardworking at everything they attempt, or they may ignite only in certain situations that really fire them up. These types of people are ideal for meaningful employment because meaningful work takes a hardworking person. It may be a struggle to push through sometimes, to achieve the desired goal. And being determined, persistent, and hardworking is a necessity to excel in such positions.

5. THEY ARE VERSATILE.

Huge corporations making even bigger profits can afford to hire anyone they want to accomplish their objectives. Companies focused on doing good in the world, and their customers first, may not have such luxuries. They may or may not have enough employees to cover everything that needs doing – so the employees they do have must be versatile and flexible. Someone who is adaptive, can multi-task well, and tends to be good at most things they do, is a great fit for purposeful and meaningful work.
